What is the New Normal?

It’s been just about six month since shelter in place was instituted to help curb the spread of Covid-19. It has been six months of a terrible economy with millions losing their jobs, many hundreds of thousands losing their lives due to the virus, and untold amounts of hardships for many. Whether you lost your job or are able to WFH, life today looks very different than it did six months ago. I have struggled to write any blog posts before now as I feel like life is so different for so many and in so many different ways.

And yet we keep moving forward. Whether we like it or not, the future keeps coming at us. Maybe this is the learning of 2020, to be flexible, adapt, and learn to roll with what comes our way. For some of us, this is easy, for others of us this is a challenge, but if we can all learn to master this skill, we will be better equipped for the wild ride that is life.

Today we woke up to orange skies. It is almost lunch time as I write this and it is as dark as if it were before sunrise. Our kids are home doing home school zooms as I check on them periodically between my own zoom meetings. This is our new normal. We are adapting, learning to adjust as needed, and some times even thriving. Will this whole experience make us stronger? Potentially, hopefully, only time and history will tell.
